808 STATE DJs [Manchester, UK] »
   Performing 00.30 - 02.30 at Main hall

808 State DJs Manchester, England's finest acid music combo of the early 90s was founded by Martin Price, owner of the city's influential Eastern Bloc record shop, and Graham Massey, who had previously worked in a café opposite the shop. Together with Gerald Simpson, they began recording as a loose electro/house collective, releasing “Newbuild” in 1988. Simpson subsequently left to form his own ”A Guy Called Gerald” vehicle, and was replaced by Darren Partington and Andrew Barker. These two young DJs were working together as the “Spin Masters” and were regular visitors to Eastern Bloc, proffering a variety of tapes in the hope of securing a deal with Price's Creed label.

808State djs What about 808 djs sets then? By Andrew Barkers own words:

"We mix it up. It is a mixture of tuff house, breaks and techno. Between me and Darren, you’ll get a cross section of every type of dance music you hear or have heard, the best of it. Basically, we play a party set so, if you’re there in the crowd, don’t bother staring at us ’cause we’re not going to entertain you. We just want to see you dance!"
