Dixon had toured around the venues across the nation as a member of such prestigious collectives as Hytky and Niitty, ever since 1994. His sets consist mainly of different forms of techno with hints of house and electro...not forgetting the experimental aspects of electronic music. It's been awhile since b-eat-z paid a visit to Rovaniemi but on the 6th of Dec. , Tivoli is once again filled with the latest electronic (and funky) grooves provided by a bunch of forefront djs. Dj Dixon and the local maestro, Dj Orion, will set the main dancefloor on fire whilst djs Yari and Jori smooth things down a bit with a sweet, funky serving. Date 06.12.2003 Time 22-04 Place Café Tivoli, Valtakatu 19 Tickets 5 eur Dj Dixon (Hytky/Niitty, Hki) Known for his diverse electronic music taste from trademark techno to idm and ambient and electro, dj Dixon aka Jaakko Hirvonen is a longtime member of Hytky collective. His underground roots can be traced back to his home town of Tampere, where he promoted several highly regarded events during the nineties. In 2001 Jaakko also joined Niitty as a resident of Virus events, where he has played alongside Jeff Mills and Surgeon as well as taking part in the promotion. Techno fanatic to the core, his sets incorporate all that is truly techno, experiential and danceable. His aim is to keep up the musical interest and versatility all the time. Dj Orion (Destination & No:Status / Roi, Finland) Orion is a DJ and a promoter who has affected the electronic music scene in Northern Finland strongly in the last couple of years. Alongside promoting such events as Destination, No:Status, Fuusio and many smaller parties he is one of the creators of the "NTF" - the event calendar and discussion forum of Northern Finland. As DJ he loves to blend styles and genres, to begin from breaks and build the set up with house & trance vibes not to forget his unique touch to harder music genres. Residencies at various club nights have progressed his style towards technique perfection - although he gives always more value to DJs ability to interact with the audience and to progress the set correctly to fulfill public's expectations. No trends, certain styles or fixed rhythms... no Sirree Bob. His endless source of material spans from the early eighties when he started his dj career. Nowadays, expect to find him behind the decks in Bar Cafe Labyrinth, Helsinki.
